Okay… I’m watching someone on Leo Laporte’s TWiT Live stream right now. I believe it is Samantha, but I am not positive.
I have never heard of this website/podcast/thing that you are doing with The Highway Girl until now.
…oh wait. okay, Leo just explained it again… So the beautiful woman is Samantha.
So here’s the deal: I have not watched a single episode, but I plan to after you leave the TWiT stream. Right now I’m sucked into that.
From what I have heard so far, however, this sounds like the most amazing thing ever, and I am really hoping I can be a part of it.
I am a singer/songwriter living in University City (St. Louis) Missouri. Well… that is what I aspire to be. Right now I’m working a full-time day job, and writing and playing when I can.
I just recorded my debut album/demo a couple weeks ago, and I am distributing it for free, or for a “choose what you pay for it” model through http://NoiseTrade.com. I’ve set up a redirect to my NoiseTrade page from http://fromthornstoroses.com
Anyway, I’ve been trying to get more people to hear my music, and I have been trying to get more of my friends and current fans involved in helping get my music carer off the ground, but have been feeling rather discouraged in that arena. I began thinking that I should just go out and play as much as I can and hopefully get things going that way, but from what I hear from Samantha, that is not what she has experienced as being the most effective method.
At this point, I am just rambling, and I don’t really know what the point I’m trying to make is, other than I am excited that you are doing this, and I hope I can contribute to your cause, and also reap some benefit for my own career if you could help me.
I would really appreciate you listening to my work, and… well… I’m not sure what I’m looking for. Any feedback from you about how I might be able to work with you would be truly appreciated. I’m going to go peruse the site now. k bye.
Hey guys. Just wanted to drop you a line with our info so you could check us out. We are a live Electro/ Dance/ Rock band from Cleveland, OH. If you like bands like Soulwax, The Presets, The Faint and Bloc Party, you should check us out. We would be delighted if you could click on the link to check us out. We just shot a video using 21 Mac Laptops for free and we’re trying to get it out there as much as possible. If you have some time, please check it out and if your little hearts desire, you could do what you want with it (maybe a review?? ;) ).We’re also starting to chart on the CMJ/ RPM charts! #32 this week! Thanks for your time and keep up the great work!
THIS IS A SHAKEDOWN!

Artist Samantha Murphy has spent her entire life writing and playing music. As a part of her family's band she opened for artists like Willie Nelson and Dolly Parton. As a solo artist she's worked with Five for Fighting and Kylie Minogue among many others.
Samantha's first single from her sophomore release Some Assembly Required is a cover of Johnny Cash's hit song Ring of Fire, produced by Samantha and Ray Kennedy (Lucinda Williams/Steve Earle). Watch the video and buy it on the Internet 9/15/10.
In 2005 Samantha was one of the first music podcasters ever. In 2008 the show launched as a weekly web TV show called The Highway Girl. As Samantha tours she features a different artist from a different city and venue each week. The show educates artists on how to take care of themselves both on and off the road.
